The Observatory for violations of freedom of opinion and expression, released on September 30, 2025, a report on the right to creativity, \u201cCreatives Between Prison and Prohibition\u201d.<\/p>\n

The report highlights the violations of the right to freedom of creativity during the period from February 2021 until July 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Observatory for violations of freedom of opinion and expression documented 15 cases of violations, which consist of judicial prosecutions, censorship, and security intimidation that targeted comedians, singers, painters, directors, photographers, and writers on the grounds of their exercise of their right to creativity and artistic and literary expression, especially artworks that criticize political practice.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the compilation of the report, the Observatory relied on multiple sources, including information published on social media, news websites, and conducted interviews with several practitioners in the field of freedom of creativity.<\/span><\/p>\n

The objective of this report is to shed light on the committed violations and to highlight the extent to which Tunisian authorities have targeted artists during a period marked by a decline in the right to freedom of expression in general, and the right to creativity in particular, since 2011.<\/span><\/p>\n
