In September, Intersection Association for Rights and Freedom released a monitoring report entitled
“Imprisonment or Recycling: The Future of Political opponents in Tunisia”.
This report refers to the systematic arrests and detentions that specifically targeted anyone who opposed the July 25, 2021 process and the regime of President Kaïs Saïed during the 500-day period from February 2023 to June 2024. Mainly political leaders and activists, businessmen, media professionals, lawyers, former civil servants and judges.
In addition, the ruling regime uses the “recycling method” of political defendants by resorting to preventive detention in more than one case, which violates the principle of fair trial due to the blocking of files by the judiciary.
